D.A.N.I.E.L.

D.A.N.I.E.L. (Digital Assistant for Navigating Issues with Empathic Listening) is a computer program that functions both as a chatbot and a musical instrument. Inspired by the 1960s psychotherapy bot ELIZA, it asks users introspective questions and analyzes their responses. Each piece of text is transformed into a corresponding musical chord, allowing the program to “play” the user's responses. Through this conversational exchange, participants generate evolving musical compositions, transforming dialogue into sound.
